Computing

Computing is changing the lives of everyone. Through teaching Computing we equip children to be part of a changing world where technology plays an important role in both work and leisure. Opportunities are provided to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. It is also important that children develop the ability to use information in a discriminating and effective way. Computing skills are a major factor in enabling children to be confident, creative and independent learners.

 To be confident and effective users of technology, children need to:

  • Find, select and use information effectively;
  • Use technology for effective and appropriate communication;
  • Monitor and control both real and imaginary events;
  • Use both hardware and software for creative and appropriate uses of information;
  • Apply their skills and knowledge to their learning in other areas;
  • Use their technological skills to develop their language and communication skills;
  • Explore their attitudes towards technology and its value to them and society in general;
  • Learn about issues of security, confidentiality and accuracy in order to keep themselves safe;
  • Challenge themselves and share their skills and talents with others
